Cycles of Life - 2006-08-14 12:13

Book of James I get into different interests during my life that seem to go in a yearish cycle. The rotation is made up of reading, writing, and arting. While we lived in Istanbul, Turkey, I had a bit of free time and wanted to visually illustrate a book of the Bible. I had seen someone do a piece on Ephesians and really liked it (I wish I had a copy to show), so I decided to do my favorite book at the time, James.

I suppose because of my math background, I like symmetry, bold lines, and simple designs. You can see that come out in this piece. All of this was done by hand and by the time I got to the third chapter, I was getting over it. Each circle holds one half of a chapter. I counted up all the words in the book of James and divided it by ten to get how many words go in a circle. The “stuffing” of each of the outer circles is a little different in size because 1. I didn’t take into account the lengths of each of the words and B. because I’m human and did it by hand. I finally took the time to get it on my computer and I hope you enjoy it. I’ve had a few people ask for copies, so I’m going to look into how much it would cost to reproduce it. If you are interested in getting a copy, let me know!

Could you make me an elaborate work of art from the book of Psalms. I would also like you to take a picture of your claw-hand after you are done. Your too kind.

@Annmarie: I’m looking into pricing right now. I’ll let you know.

@Jeremy: I’ll give you an elaborate piece of work… My claw-hand in your eye!

surprisingly enough I am also wearing an eyepatch that I made out of my belt. So I’m hoping it will protect my eye from your claw-hand…
