Huzzah Middle School Guys - 2010-01-07 13:28
So, I spend some of my time each day in a computer lab making sure the guys can do the work they need to on the computers (while getting my own work done). Today I had 2 fun incidents which helps me remember why I like working in a middle school. The students are individually watching a video for Spanish and have to wear headphones, but the headphones have a mic attached (and you can hear yourself when you talk into the headphones).
1. I overheard Thomas in the front row whispering into his mic, “You are the best!”
2. John raised his hand. His headphones weren’t working (which is commonly fixed by making sure the computer isn’t muted). When I went over and checked all the sound settings on the computer everything looked good. “Oh. The video isn’t playing yet.” Yes, that could be the problem. So he started the video. Still no sound. That’s when I noticed sound coming from another set of headphones on his desk.
“John, I don’t think you have those headphones plugged into the computer.”
“Yes, I do,” he said as he followed the cord down to the… floor.
