My New Favoritest, Slightly Rednecky Show - 2006-07-13 15:28

PINKSAlright, let me set up the situation. We were having a cookout at our house with some of our friends from our small group (a Bible study group) from our church. One of the guys in the group who will remain nameless (I will tell you it rhymes with Harry V. Wright) asked me if I’d ever seen PINKS. Nope. And I had no clue what it was about. He proceed to tell me about the quarter mile drag race, in which the owner of the two cars racing sign over the titles to their cars (in the old days, their “pink” slips) to the PINKS crew. The owners race their cars for a best-out-of-five race, the winner taking the titles to both cars. I’m not a big car or racing guy, so I thought it sounded fine, but wasn’t sure if I’d really check it out.

Last night around 11:30 I noticed that it was on the Speed Channel. I wasn’t ready to go to sleep and had nothing better to do so I tuned in. All I have to saw is WOW! It will be definitely tuning in this summer to PINKS. One thing Harry didn’t tell me was how the host, Rich Christensen, mediates for the drivers as they haggled over the race conditions. Sometimes Team A would get to use their Nitro bottle, while other times, Team B received a five car-length head start. They want to make the race as competitive as possible. So, if even you aren’t a NASCAR fan (as I am not, you may want to check it out: Wednesdays at 9:00 on the Speed Channel).
