Nursery Update - 2006-08-12 16:06

Nursery Our friends were kind enough to give us their crib, but when we got it to our house, we found out that a few of the pieces were missing. No problem, we’ll just call Pali (the Italian crib makers) and order the boards that were missing. So we call and when they don’t pick up the message says they are on vacation until the beginning of August. Okay, I call back at the beginning of August to find out that the 2 particle boards that I need will cost $90. No thanks. I’ll run up to Lowe’s and get a few pieces of oak and drill the holes myself.

Thankfully the price of gas went up in the past few years, because I only had to make about 8 different trips to make sure that I had everything I needed and the right one of everything I needed. Another good thing was that Pali is an Italian company (as stated earlier) so all of their screws and bolts are metric (naturally), which (surprise, surprise) neither Lowe’s nor Home Depot have. We do have a wonderful (truthfully wonderful) hardware store in Richmond called Pleasant’s Hardware who did have the 6mm x 40mm socket head cap screws I needed (figuring that out only took 3 trips to various hardware stores).

With all of the little issues behind me, I was finally able to finish putting the crib together this afternoon. It takes really seeing the room coming together to realize that in about 8 weeks (Lord willing) we will be bringing Baby Zollie home.
