Two Thirty-Four - 2006-09-15 09:34
I’ve been back at school now for two weeks and have been enjoying the smooth beginning of the year. My schedule is not as long as some of your’s may be; I have to be at school by 8:00 and can leave at 3:30 (kids leave at 3:15). Overall, things this year have been good.
But have you ever found yourself sitting at work, glancing at the clock every three minutes to see how much time is left until bye-bye time? Today being Friday, I found myself glancing ever so often.
I have a problem. Not a serious problem, but a problem that most of you don’t have. This problem is one that can’t be fixed (at least not right away), although it seems like it shouldn’t be that hard. My clock is broke. Not broken. Broke. Broken implies that there is a chance it can be fixed. Broke is broke. No fixing. My clock is stuck on 2:34.
2:34 isn’t that bad of a time, but it gives you the false hope that the end of school is only 41 minutes away. The weekend will arrive in 41 minutes! But when I glance at my trusty wrist clock (that’s right, I said wrist clock) it announces that I still have 4 hours and 41 minutes. Curse you wrist clock! Why can’t you agree with stupid broken wall clock.
A work order has been placed because all the simple checks have been done on it and none of them have worked. I think the problem is something in the wiring in the wall, because the maintenance men even replace the clock, and the new one did the same thing. The kids keep asking me when I’m going to fix my clock.
“I don’t know. Leave me alone.”
That is sad. I’m sorry that it keeps dashing your hopes, only after raising them. I think you need to just go by that clock from now on :D What do you think of that? You’re kids would love it….
My clock in one of my classes is regularly 1400. My class in there is at 0800 and it’s so annoying. I wish we could just go by it and when that clock says it’s 0800, then I’ll go to class :D
Have a great weekend
I present to you the solution to your clock problem: http://www.storesonline.com/site/938296/product/IT-474
It’s almost indestructable with an “a” so it must be good!
Thanks guys! I asked again, and the maintenence guys said it would be anywhere from a couple days to a couple months… alrighty then… thanks, I think…
And I love your solution Jeremy. I want one with your beautiful mug in it. Indestructable is definitely the way to go. I’m sure my students would enjoy that. Actually, my dad used to have a clock that the numbers and the hands went counter-clockwise. It was great. I want one. Or two.
